Rothbury, MI (Saturday, April 3, 2021) - Night number one is in the books for the Player Hater Wild West Shootout at Winston Speedway. Eight divisions of racing staged their preliminary events, led by the Super Late Models and the IMCA Modifieds.
Sixteen Super Late Models and 21 IMCA Modifieds made the trip to the West Michigan bullring. Friday night's events kicked off with qualifying for the supers. Chad Finley made an early statement by collecting the Overall Fast Qualifier Award (14.532) and the $200 bonus.
Heat races hit the track next, and it was Brandon Thirlby and Travis Stemler picking up the wins.
The IMCA Modifieds staged 3 heat races, with A.J. Ward, Austin Wonch, and Collin Thirlby collecting the victories.
It was then on to the Friday Night Specials. The 6 lap race set the line-up for the first 3 rows of Saturday’s feature events. Austin Wonch kept his hot night going, picking up the win and the pole for the IMCA Modifieds. Ward finished second and will start from the outside of the front row for Saturday's feature.
For the Super Late Models, it was Stemler continuing his hot start to '21, picking up the win and the pole for Saturday’s headliner. Finley had a solid run, finishing 2nd, and will start on the outside pole for the feature event.
On Saturday, all feature races are on tap. Pit Gates open at 2:00pm, Grandstands at 3:00pm, with the first green flag scheduled for 4:00pm.
