Shotko Motorsports Launches “Direct Driver Development” company in Partnership with ARCA racer and business partner Scott Melton for 2025

Saranac, Michigan (Dec. 22, 2024) - Shotko Motorsports, in collaboration with veteran ARCA racer and successful business owner, Scott Melton, is excited to announce a new driver advancement company, “Direct Driver Development”, beginning in the 2025 short track racing season.

Evan Shotko, of Shotko Motorsports (SMS) in Coopersville, Michigan is no stranger to the racing world. He’s the 2022 Berlin Raceway Super Late Model Champion and winner of several marquee events in the Midwest. Since its inception in 2021, SMS has established a reputation for excellence, helping clients secure countless wins through advanced chassis modifications and setups. Building on this success, the team introduced the SMS Chassis 001—designed and built entirely in-house at Shotko Motorsports. This expertise has now fueled the creation of their new company “Direct Driver Development”, supported by Melton’s experience and dedication.

Scott Melton is the owner and driver of the Melton-McFadden No. 69 Toyota ARCA Menards Series car. When he’s not behind the wheel of the ARCA car, he is president of Melton-Mcfadden Insurance of Belding, Michigan managing clients from all walks of life.

Melton’s knowledge and experience operating a successful business in conjunction with Shotko’s expertise in motorsports fabrication join forces for a common goal; get drivers to the winner circle.

“We’re all in it to chase checkered flags,” said Shotko. “I’ve experienced that thrill as a driver, and I’ve helped my clients achieve victory with tailored setups. This new program with Scott gives us the opportunity to guide drivers in gaining valuable experience and adding more wins to the Shotko Motorsports legacy.”

“Direct Driver Development” debuted at the prestigious 57th Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida in early December 2024. Travis Braden, former Snowball Derby and Super Series Champion was behind the wheel of the No. 69 Pro Late Model powered by Melton-McFadden Insurance in the prestigious Snowflake 100.

Against an entry list of 51 competitive teams at the Snowflake 100, Braden challenged the top five before an on-track incident forced him to the rear of the field.

“Working with Evan and the Shotko Motorsports team has been an incredible experience,” Melton remarked. “Our [Melton-McFadden Insurance and Shotko Motorsports] team’s hard work and technical expertise have proven we can deliver top-tier speed on the track. I’m thrilled about this new program and the opportunities it will create in 2025.”

Shotko Motorsports is now welcoming applications for “Direct Driver Development” from funded drivers interested in tailored Pro Late Model and Super Late Model programs.
