In the first year back in action, the American Late Model Iron-Man Series which merged the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series with the Sunoco American Late Model Series at the end of last year, crowned Rusty Schlenk the champion over the weekend. The McClure, OH native took home the title after the nearly 20 race schedule that spanned from May to October.
Schlenk is a five time champion of the former Sunoco American Late Model Series that ran primarily in the Midwest until 2021. Meanwhile, the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series supported tracks across Kentucky, Tennessee, and other states in the Midsouth. This season's schedule took the Tour to tracks in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and Michigan. Schlenk won the season opener at Attica Raceway Park in May and backed it up with another win at Oakshade the following night. Schlenk went on to post nine more Top five finishes and 13 more Top 10 finishes. Among those, Schlenk returned to his former home track of Butler Motor Speedwayin August where he collected his third win of the season.
