Ocala, FL (Wednesday, February 3, 2021) - Speedweeks ramped back up on Tuesday night, with three race tracks in Florida hosting contests for some of the best racers in the country. East Bay Raceway Park played host to the All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC), Bubba Raceway Park with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, and Volusia Speedway Park for the DIRTcar Nationals.
For the All Star Circuit of Champions, the veteran, Donny Schatz did exactly what he needed to do in order to win his second ASCoC race in just the third start of the season. At the half-way point of the race, Schatz went inside-out on leader Justin Peck down the backstretch, taking the lead going into turn three. Schatz held on the rest of the way collecting his second ASCoC feature win of the season.
In Ocala, Florida, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series closed out the Winter Nationals with a $10,000 to win finale from Bubba Raceway Park. Jimmy Owens and Shane Clanton led the field to the green flag and Owens jumped out to the early lead. By lap nine, Bobby Pierce made his bid for the top spot, slipping by Ownes after the 20 machine made contact with the backstretch wall. Following a restart, Clanton got around Ownes for second before tracking down Pierce for the lead. Clanton mounted a charge on the outside of the racetrack and went on to collect the win, his first with the Series since September of 2019.
Volusia Speedway Park kicked off their Speedweeks with the DIRTcar Nationals featuring UMP Modifieds. Nick Hoffman came from his outside row two starting spot to get the win, getting around Curt Spalding with just eight laps to go following a restart.
The action returns tonight at Volusia Speedway Park with the ASCoC making a swing into town, and DIRTcar UMP Modifieds back on the docket as well. Bubba Raceway Park has an off day before the NOS Energy Drink USAC National Midgets get ready for their weekend of racing. East Bay also takes a breather before Crate Racin' USA 604 Late Models and Top Gun Sprints invade on Thursday.
