New Smyrna Beach, FL (Tuesday, February 9, 2021) - Some of the most exciting racing of Speedweeks was on tap for Monday night in central Florida, events so enticing even mother nature stopped by for a visit. Despite the rain, a full show was held at all three area Speedweeks locations on Monday night.
The DIRTcar Nationals wrapped up the UMP Modified portion of their 50th celebration of the event. After four Last Chance Qualifiers, the 32 car field was set for a chance at $5,000. Justin Allgaier cashed-in on his DIRTcar UMP Modified experience at Volusia Speedway Park Monday night for his second career DIRTcar Nationals victory and first in the division’s most prestigious event – the Gator Championship Feature. Of the over 100 different drivers that checked in throughout Speedweeks, Nick Hoffman came out on top as the DIRTcar Nationals Champion.
Also on tap at Volusia were the DIRTcar Late Models, running their first of two unsanctioned events before the World of Outlaws Morton Building Late Model Series moves in. Tim McCreadie drove from the outside pole to his first Speedweeks win of 2021. McCreadie becomes the 11th different winner in 12 shows; the only driver with multiple Late Model Speedweeks wins in Tyler Erb, who is not in attendance at Volusia.
Elsewhere, Bubba Raceway Park welcomed back the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midgets for a makeup event. Thomas Mezzeraull raced his way to a win after fending off two other competitors in lapped traffic. Plus, at New Smyrna Speedway, the ARCA Menards Series East opened their season with a dramatic three-wide finish at the line, where Max Gutierrez came out on top.
