New Smyrna Beach, FL (Sunday, February 14, 2021) - Mother nature raged her way across greater Florida on Saturday night, which put a hamper on a better part of the final night for local Speedweeks racing. Except for Daytona International Speedway and New Smyrna Speedway, racing was largely cancelled on Saturday.
Volusia Speedway Park rained out early and crowned their Big Gator Champions in Devin Moran and Max McLaughlin. New Smyrna Speedway capped their World Series with a 100 lap Super Late Model race that saw Stephen Nasse go to victory lane ahead of young Jesse Love. Austin Cindric held on at Daytona to collect his Xfinity Series win after Corey Heim won in the ARCA Menards Series.
Today, the NASCAR Cup Series takes center stage for the Daytona 500. Denny Hamlin has a chance to make history today with an opportunity to become the only driver to ever win three consecutive Daytona 500s. A limited capacity crowd will be in attendance for the race which kicks off later this afternoon.
