MARS Racing Series Forced to Postpone Opening Weekend Due to Weather

Fairbury, Illinois (April 5, 2023) – Already saturated grounds, coupled with heavy rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday morning at the Tri-City Speedway has forced track and series officials to cancel this weekend’s MARS Modified Championship Powered by Summit Racing Equipment Winter Meltdown event.

Track promoters Kevin and Tammy Gundaker along with their staff have been hard at work preparing the racing surface for this weekend’s season opener. With the large number of teams making plans to attend, they felt it was in the best interest of the fans and race teams to get the word out early. Currently, there are no plans for a make-up date for this event. The MARS Modified Championship Powered by Summit Racing Equipment will return to the Tri-City Speedway on Friday night August 18 for a $2,000 to win event.

Attention now shifts to our new season opener on Friday April 28 at the Brownstown Bullring in Brownstown, IL for both the MARS Modified Championship Powered by Summit Racing Equipment and the MARS Late Model Championship Powered by FK Rod Ends. Both series will also be in action on Saturday April 29 for opening night at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL. On Sunday April 30, the MARS Late Model Championship Powered by FK Rod Ends will invade the Red Hill Raceway in Sumner, IL.
