Lake City, MI (Friday, May 28, 2021) - The Allstar Performance Late Model Challenge Series Supported by Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort is set for a triple-header weekend of racing, and over $16,000 in first place prize money. Some of the best DIRTcar Super Late Model drivers from around the region are expected to compete for the top prize money over the weekend.
The action all begins Friday night at Tri City Motor Speedway in Auburn, Michigan. Drivers will race for $6,000 at the end of 40 laps around the 3/8ths mile oval. During last week’s weekly show, Travis Stemler raced his way to the win holding off charges from Dona Marcoullier and Chad Finley. However, it was all Lake City’s, Eric Spangler during the last Tri City Challenge Series event. Spangler took the lead eight laps into the race from Logan Nickerson, and survived a late race restart to get the win.
On Saturday, teams head north to Merritt Speedway for the remainder of the weekend. Late Model Challenge Series teams will Qualify and compete in their Heat races which will set the starting line-up for the Odd/Even features. The Odd/Even Features will set the starting line-up for Sunday’s $10K to win race. The Odd Feature will determine the line-up for the inside row, while the Even Feature will set the outside row of the A-Main. The Odd/Even features are expected to pay at least $1,500 to win.
The weekend comes to a boil on Sunday when the Late Model Challenge Series battles for a cool $10,000 prize. During the last Challenge Series race, Chad Finley came from the 12th starting spot, recovering from an early race spin to get the win. Last week, during weekly racing at Merritt Speedway, two-time and defending Track Champion, David Mielke collected his first win of the young season.
