Auburn, MI - After months of speculation and rumors, Tri City Motor Speedway in Auburn, MI will have new promoters for the 2025 season. Speedway Owner, Mike Blackmer posted on the Speedway's social media page Friday morning that he believes they are the perfect fit to take over the Speedway.
Blackmer also says he will relinquish all involvement with the tracks, taking responsibility for falling short for Tri City as it was too great a challenge. The full social media post reads as follows:
Dear Racers, Employees, and Supporters of Tri-City Motor Speedway,
We are pleased to announce an exciting new chapter for Tri-City Motor Speedway. As of today, the track will be operated by new promoters—Klint and Kalvin Lewis. We strongly believe they are the perfect fit to take over the speedway, as they have been involved since its transformation into a dirt track. Their passion, dedication, and vision for the future make them the ideal candidates to lead Tri-City Motor Speedway forward.
After much consideration, I have made the decision to relinquish all involvement with Tri-City. Operating multiple tracks proved to be too great of a challenge, and I take full responsibility for falling short in that endeavor. Moving forward, I will be focusing solely on Merritt Speedway, dedicating my efforts to rebuilding and improving it for the upcoming race season.
The transition to new promoters has been carefully considered, and while there were other interested parties, I firmly believe that Klint and Kalvin are the best choice to ensure the continued success of Tri-City Motor Speedway. We are confident in their ability to grow the track and provide an exceptional experience for fans and racers alike.
For those concerned about outstanding payments from last season, please rest assured that I remain committed to fulfilling all financial obligations. In fact, we have already sent out a substantial number of checks today, and will continue working to settle any remaining balances.
Additionally, we would like to address the upcoming banquet. I urge you to purchase your tickets as soon as possible. The banquet is an opportunity for all of you racers to come together and celebrate the past season while preparing for the next. If the event moves forward, I will be there selling pit slabs and drivers registration for Merritt Speedway. Additionally, new Tri-City Motor Speedway promoters Klint and Kalvin will be there, set up at their own post taking pit slabs and drivers registration for Tri-City as well. Your support is crucial in making this event possible.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these changes. It has been an incredible journey with all of you at Tri-City Motor Speedway, and we wholeheartedly believe that under its new promoters, the track will be bigger and better than ever.
Thank you for your continued support. - Michael Blackmer
