Gas City, IN (Thursday, March 2, 2023) - Officials with Gas City I-69 Speedway have released a 2023 schedule featuring 12 events from April to October. The Speedway reverts back to a "specials only" schedule in 2023 under promoter Larry Boos. Throughout the season, Non-Wing Sprints, Modifieds, USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets, Indiana Race Saver Sprints, USAC Midgets, USAC Sprints, Steel Block Sprints, Dirt Track Trucks, Stock Cars, Hornets, MMSA Mini Sprints, Crown Vics, and Mod Lites will all compete.
The season kicks off on Friday, April 28th with the first of six events titled "Chase for the Derrick". Points will be kept at each of the Non-Wing Sprint Car races featuring the "Chase for the Derrick" and the top 10 in points will race in the Derrick Shootout on Saturday, October 21st during the Fall Harvest of Speed. A special purse and custom trohpy will be awarded to the winner.
Other key dates include the Salute to the 500s on Friday, May 26th. A nod to both the Anderson Speedway Lucas Oil Little 500 on Saturday, May 27th, and the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 28th. Non-Wing Sprints, Indiana Race Saver Sprints, Crown Vics, and Stock Cars will be in action.
On Wednesday, June 7th the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midgets roll into town for Indiana Midget Week 2023. Then on Friday, July 21st, the USAC NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars are on the schedule during Indiana Sprint Week. Finally, on Thursday, September 21st, Gas City I-69 Speedway will host the James Dean Classic featuring both USAC Sprints and Midgets.
