Erb Finishes Winternationals as Only Repeat Winner; Reutzel Hangs on For ASCoC Win

Detroit, MI (Sunday, January 31, 2021) - The first major leg of the 2021 Speedweeks is coming to a close as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series wrapped up the Winternationals from East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday night. Plus, the Ollie's Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC) finished their two race invasion of Screven Motor Speedway, while the Short Track Super Series Big Block Modifieds concluded their days in the sun.

Coming from the outside of row two, "Terbo" Tyler Erb became the first repeat winner for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2021, and the first driver to repeat at East Bay during the Wrisco Industries Winternationals. As it has been all week, a difficult surface greeted the drivers for the $15,000 to win finale. Erb made his way around Brandon Sheppard on lap 14 but lost the lead on a restart to Tim McCreadie. Erb's absence from the lead was short-lived, as he drove back around "T-Mac" on the inside of the raceway and held on for the win. Terbo's victory comes just one night after he was disqualified from the event following retaliation to Mason Zeigler following contact in a heat race. Erb is now third in the points behind Devin Moran and Brandon Overton.

The All Star Circuit of Champions raced their way out of Georgia and Screven Motor Speedway following a dramatic $10,000 to win feature. Aaron Reutzel, who won the 2020 ASCoC Championship, battled back from early race struggles to pick up the win. Reutzel not only held off a hard-charging Sheldon Haudenschild, but also survived a late-race restart triggered by Haudenschild spinning in turn two. Reutzel was perfect on the restart with less than 10 to go, en route to the win.

Pennsylvania's Mike Gular survived an exciting night and the final night of racing for the Short Track Super Series as part of Speedweeks. Gular who had the lead early in the 50-lap contest, soon found himself fighting with well-known driver, Stewart Friesen. On lap 26, the race changed dramatically, as Gular and Friesen collided while racing for the lead. Friesen shot into the pit gate opening in the first turn before rolling over his Number 44. Friesen walked away from the crash, and Gular went on to collect the win.

Sunday is an off day nearly across the entire board, with the exception of the conclusion of the Rolex 24 from Daytona. Starting Monday, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will head to Bubba Raceway Park for the final two races for their Florida Speedweeks - a pair of $10,000 to win races. Then, East Bay Raceway Park plays host to the ASCoC for two nights, before Volusia Speedway Park becomes the hub of Dirt Speedweeks.
