From Champion Racing Association - Salem, Indiana (December 28, 2020): Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS officials have released the 2021 schedule for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models third season. The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models was a new racing series in 2019 to focus on a youth movement for short track stock car racing that saw 10 to 15-year-old drivers compete amongst themselves for both experience and recognition in full size late models with an economical drive train and suspension alternatives.
Some of the key components for the rule package for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models will be the mandated use of the $3900 factory sealed Chevrolet Performance 602 crate engine. Teams will also be utilizing less expensive rear ends, transmissions and springs and spec KONI Shocks. The series will also be racing on 8-inch steel wheels and utilizing 8-inch Hoosier Racing tires. The series competes
on 3/8 mile and under racetracks with most events consisting of 8 lap heat races and a 25-lap feature.
The series will use the same Chase for the Championship playoff format that CRA has successfully used with its other four divisions since the 2017 season. The final three scheduled races will be utilized as the playoffs or “Chase” events. Prior to the start of the three races, the Regular Season Points Champion and the top 5 teams in wins (then points) that have attended 70% of the points events are eligible for the Chase. Prior to the season’s last event, the Regular Season Points Champion and the top 2 Chase for the Championship teams in wins (then points) during the Chase and were at all Chase events, will race for the season’s championship, with the highest finishing team in that event declared the season’s champion. Katie Hettinger was the series 2020 Champion.
The series’ first event of the season will take place at Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia, Ohio on Sunday, April 11th for the first of two series events there in 2021. The racy 3/8 mile will also host the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks season openers on that same day.
The series second event will be at Salem Speedway on their ¼ mile oval on Saturday, May 15th. The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks will also be in action that day on Salem’s ½ mile track.
The series third event will take place at the famed Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on their ¼ mile track on Saturday, May 29th. This will be the first ever series event in Tennessee.
The series fourth event will be at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana on Saturday, June 12th, the first of two events at that track in 2021. Anderson has hosted more CRA events than any other track since the sanctioning body started racing in 1997. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will also be in action at that event.
The series fifth race of the season will take place at Flat Rock Speedway, located just outside Flat Rock, Michigan on Saturday, June 19th. It will be the first ever series event at the racy 1/4-mile track. The ARCA/CRA Super Series will also be in action that day.
The series sixth event will be at Angola Motorsports Speedway, located outside Angola, Indiana on Saturday, July 10th. It will be the first ever series event at the racy 3/8-mile track. The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman will also be in action that day.
The series seventh event of the season will be a return visit to Kil-Kare Raceway on Sunday, July 25th. The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks will also be in action with that event.
The series eighth event of the season will be at Birch Run Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan on their ¼ mile oval, the first of two events scheduled at that track. The series will be a part of a huge new event at Birch Run on Saturday, July 31st, that will also have the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour racing on the 4/10’s mile track at Birch Run.
The series ninth event will be a return visit to Anderson Speedway on Saturday, August 14th. That event will be the series’ first Chase for the Championship event. The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks will also be in action with that event.
The series tenth event will be a return visit to Birch Run Speedway on Friday, August 20th. That event will be the second Chase event for the series.
The series Season Championship event will be at Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio on their 1/5-mile short track on Saturday, September 18th as part of the huge Glass City 200 event that will also include the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the Toledo Speedway Outlaw Late Models.
