Corrigan Oil Speedway Reduced to Limited Schedule in 2023

Speedway Sold, Expected to Change hands at Season’s End

Mason, MI (Wednesday, February 8, 2023) - In a shocking announcement last week, Corrigan Oil Speedway officials announced their 2023 schedule. A lightweight schedule featured just a total of six events in 2023. Of those, three events are Night of Destruction races, and one other is promoted by an outside source. The announcement also included a statement saying Tom and Tracey Hernly had entered an agreement to sell the Speedway at the end of the season.

The first event of the season will be the first Night of Destruction on Friday, May 19th. Another Destruction show is planned for Friday, July 7th. The first circle track event of the year will be the Inaugural Bob Finley Memorial on Wednesday, July 26th. Promoted by Jeff Finley and Northside Towing, the race features an over $35,000 purse, paying an impressive $6,767 to win. The race is a part of the Reveal the Hammer Outlaw Super Late Model Series.

From there, the Speedway will host the annual Wild Child Memorial event on Friday, August 4th. Traditionally this event has been headlined by Open Wheel Modifieds and Outlaw Super Late Models. Limited details have been made available about this season’s events. The final “traditional” circle track event of the 2023 season will be the annual Harvest on Sunday, August 20th. The last event of the season is the final Night of Destruction on Friday, September 8th.

The Hernly’s released the following statement on their website and Facebook page regarding the upcoming season, and the apparent end of their tenure as promoters at Corrigan Oil Speedway. Tom and Tracey Hernley began their venture as promoters with the 2021 season.

Tracey and I would like to announce the 2023 Summer of Celebration at Corrigan Oil Speedway. 2023 will be our final season as Owners and Promotors of Corrigan Oil Speedway. We have reached an agreement to sell the speedway. We are eternally grateful for all of the support from our fans, race teams, business partners and staff. Owning the speedway has been one of the most exhilarating experiences of our lives. Our 2023 schedule includes our most impactful events, and we look forward to enjoying every lap, every person and every moment.

See everyone soon.

Respectfully,

Tom and Tracey Hernly
