Attica Raceway Park Returns to Action Saturday

Attica, OH (Friday, March 26, 2021) - The 2021 racing season officially kicked off last weekend in northern Ohio at Attica Raceway Park. The line-up included DIRTcar UMP Late Models, 410, and 305 Sprint Cars. Full fields of cars turned out for the first event of the season, but this weekend looks as though fans could see car counts that would require Last Chance Qualifiers. To see the show though, fans will need to wait one extra day due to rain and wind in the midwest.

As Mother Nature works her way across the eastern part of the country, race fans and drivers are growing anxious to return to the race track; even more so as other scheduled events in the region were postponed due to heavy rains. For instance, LaSalle Speedway’s annual Thaw Brawl was postponed to May due to the rain and wind. This opened the door for some of Michigan’s well-known drivers to head south, rather than west.

Former I-96 Speedway Champion, Chad Finley is loading up his new Longhorn chassis for his first trip to the race track since a dismal weekend at Volusia Speedway Park during Speedweeks. Joining him from the Michigan camp is multi-time Merritt Speedway track champion, Eric Spangler in his Black Diamond, and 2020 Late Model Challenge Series Champion, Travis Stemler fresh off a run at the Bristol Dirt Nationals.

Also expected to be in attendance at Attica is an entire camp of race cars from the Domination Race Cars stable. The Rusty Schlenk owned and operated company now has drivers all over the country joining his Swing Arm Nation. In addition to Schlenk, who finished 2nd during last week’s show, third-place finisher Colin Shipley is expected to be back in action as well. Cedar Springs, Michigan’s Mike VanderMark, Jr, who just competed at the Spring 50 at Florence Speedway in Kentucky is also likely to race on Saturday along with a few others running the Domination name.

Alongside the DIRTcar UMP Late Models, sprint car fans will see their fair share of open-wheel racing as well. The 410 and 305 Sprint Cars will be in action again this weekend, however, Attica is now running in direct competitions with Waynesfield Raceway Park and the FAST on dirt 410 sprints and Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series.

410 Sprints will race for $4,000 to win on Saturday night at Attica Raceway Park and the 305s will compete for a $1,500 prize. Meanwhile, Late Models will chase $2,000 at the end of their feature event. Gate times are earlier for Saturday, opening at 3pm with racing at 6pm.
