The Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour in partnership with MSD Ignition is taking another step in ensuring fair competition and technical consistency by implementing assigned MSD Ignition trays at all remaining events for the 2025 season and moving forward.
Starting with the Sunshine State 200 presented by Appalachian Sucker Punch at Five Flags Speedway, all participating teams will be required to use series-issued MSD Ignition Boxes and coils mounted on a spec QuickCar tray. These units will be distributed to Crew Chiefs randomly prior to the initial practice session for each event, and they will be required to practice, qualify, and race with that box. At the conclusion of each event, boxes will be turned in, much like the timing transponders. The goal with this program is to eliminate any uncertainty about competitors having a superior ignition system that might not be available to everyone. It is important to note that this program will require no cost to the racer which was a priority when developing this program on the ASA STARS AND MSD Ignition side.
MSD Ignition Box Part #: 6427
MSD Coil Part #: 8252
QuickCar Full Tray Assembly Part #: QRP50-213 (Includes Box, Coil, and Tray)
The next event for the series is set for Sunday afternoon, March 23 at 5 Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL. The Sunshine State 200 presented by Appalachian Sucker Punch will be event #2 on the season and is part of a 3-day weekend of racing at the track that also includes ARCA, Vores Compacts, and four local divisions. The tour will then head for Dominion Raceway in Woodford, VA for event #3 on Saturday, April 5.
